The short answer
Brown tips often reflect accumulated salts, sensitivity to fluoride in water, or uneven watering. Very dry air and root crowding can contribute too.
Why this happens
Spider plants can remain healthy even with a few browned tips. The damaged ends will not recover, so evaluate whether newer leaves develop the same problem after you adjust care.
What to do
- Check that the mix is not repeatedly drying completely or staying soggy.
- Try rainwater or low-mineral water if tap-water sensitivity is suspected.
- Flush a freely draining pot occasionally to remove salts.
- Trim brown tips with clean scissors, leaving a tiny margin of dry tissue.
Keep in mind
Letting tap water stand does not reliably remove fluoride or dissolved salts. Avoid increasing fertilizer while investigating tip burn.
